Dr. Roberts is a specialist in periodontics and implantology. Here we specialize in conservative and surgical treatment of gum disease and tooth loss, including cosmetic procedures to aesthetically enhance your smile and dental implants that can replace single or multiple missing teeth.

We understand that a visit to a healthcare office can be stressful. Here we strive to make your visits with us as comfortable and pleasant as possible. We strongly believe that our patient’s comfort is an important part of quality dental care.

Your right to choose a dentist is an important freedom. We work closely with your dentist, but a referral by a dentist is not required to visit our office. We welcome referrals of family and friends from our current patients and friends of the practice as well.

We are extraordinarily proud of our staff, which is comprised of caring and dedicated professionals. They ensure that the patient’s surgical and administrative needs are met as efficiently and smoothly as possible.

Our goal is to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. We are here to listen to your questions and concerns and to help provide solutions leading to your better health. Please don’t hesitate to e-mail us if you have any questions regarding your care, or call us at (520) 742-4227.

What Is A Periodontist?

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease and in the placement and maintenance of dental implants. Periodontists are experts in the treatment of all forms of periodontal disease, including gingivitis, periodontitis, and gingival recession.

The American Dental Association recognizes periodontics as one of the nine specialties of dentistry. Periodontists receive extensive training, including three years of additional education beyond dental school.

By choosing a specialist you will benefit from the latest procedures for treating periodontal disease and placing dental implants tailored to your needs. In addition, Dr. Goodner and Dr. Roberts can perform cosmetic periodontal procedures to help you achieve the smile you desire.

WHAT DOES BOARD CERTIFIED MEAN?

A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology is a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty.

To be educationally qualified for Board certification requires:

  • Completion of a dental degree (DDS or DMD)
  • The candidate must then successfully complete an additional 3 or more years in an educational program in periodontology which is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. The period of study concentrates on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of periodontal disease, regeneration of supporting tissues of the teeth and their substitutes and maintenance of health, function and esthetics.

In addition to the basic educational requirements, Board certification requires:

  • Comprehensive oral and written examinations covering all phases of periodontal disease and its treatment, including dental implants;
  • Recertification of continued competency in periodontics through continuing education and participation in self-study programs.
